Want some online backup storage that everyone in your company can access without paying extra? Nomadesk (short for “nomadic desktop”) says it can synchronize and backup critical files for a business with its latest product for SMBs.

Carbonite charges an annual subscription fee of $54.95 which gives you unlimited backup capacity, encrypted storage, user-friendly procedures and technical support that comes in the forms of phone, live chat and email. This software runs on Windows XP, Vista and Macintosh.
Carbonite uses a single type of service which is applicable both for personal and business use. Currently, the service is free for a 15-day trial period with no credit card required.

Q. How can I create more backup storage? Is there anyway I can delete things/compress things to increase it or do I have to just buy more?
A. If they provide any facility to compress yes you can. Normally backup programs store your data in a compress format.

Q.i have very little space on my laptop and i need a new harddrive with lots of space because i’m planning to use my laptop for a long time and i need lots of space to save lots of documents. is it possible to buy a new harddrive for laptop and is it easy to replace my old one? and which brand is good?

i was told microsoft xp has some kind of backup program but i have no clue how to use it or even if it’s true. can anyone tell me if it’s reliable and how to use it? or if there’s free online backup storage services?

thanks a lot. best answer given to thorough and complete answers
A. I never deal with backup software. 9/10 times its cumbersome to set up unless you plan to use it again and again.

I suggest you invest a few dollars @ newegg.com and get an adapter which would enable you to plug in your old laptop hard drive via USB to your laptop. That way after you install XP on the new hard drive in your laptop you can view the contents of your old laptop and push all of the data over to the new install.

Q. Carbonite is the most user friendly. It would be the only one I would ever put on my mothers computer. At the same time it is the only one in the bunch that has recieved a lot of money from venture capital firms, that makes me feel more comfortable knowing they will not go bankrupt anytime soon.
A. I’ve found Mozy to be the best, with Backblaze right behind. Both offer free trials, so try them out yourself.
